Pricing
By Tax Code Ethics, Tax Professionals have to be upfront about their fees. By bank regulation, all fees associated with bank products (Refund Transfers + Refund Loans) have to be disclosed to the taxpayer before sending off of their tax return. Price gouging or charging a percent off your refund isn't allowed. Many offices don't like to be upfront about their pricing for various reasons, 1- they don't want to be undercut by competition looking at their advertisements, 2- They are basing prices off of your refund, or 3- They have no set fee schedule and just charging you randomly.

Tax preparation, as well as EVERYTHING DONE IN FINANCE, is unique to the individual. There cannot be a one size fits all price scheme. Two people may have 1 w2 to file, but they may also have 2 different tax situations. For example, 1 may qualify for additional credit or deductions which will prompt the additional filing of a schedule form. That will take more time and more work, so it will cost extra.

Below are the base rates for filing an individual tax return. They could be a little more, or a little less at your tax appointment, depending on your situation.

Remember

Before you ask a tax preparer "How much can you get me," 1st ask about their qualifications and then inquire about their pricing.

Refund Transfer - You elect for the preparation fee to be deducted from your refund. You will be charged bank fees for this transaction. Bank fees are charged by the bank and not by Tax Star Mobile. Paper filing not eligible for this payment method.

*Please note that in the case of an IRS interception of your refund for outstanding debt (back taxes, child support, student loans, etc), the preparation fees are still owed to the tax preparer.
